Fresno Pacific University is affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren, not a denomination I hear of frequently in the gay rights "culture war". However, this was one of the sites visited by Soulforce's Equality Ride (http://www.soulforce.org/
I'm not expecting to be in a relationship anytime soon, and I don't see it as a big sacrifice to maintain my singleness for the next four years. I've made it for 26 years of life without a meaningful romantic relationship; I can make it until I'm 30. Besides, I don't think I could be in that sort of a relationship with anyone so long as I'm living in a female role.
My concern is that under their Restorative Discipline page (http://www.fresno.edu/
The question is whether my support of LGBT rights would be considered to be an "extreme case", even if I keep it to myself on campus. I would imagine that extreme cases would involve trying to convince others on campus to also disagree with the "objectives of the university." It specifically states in the discipline document that "students may choose to attend FPU without making a commitment to Christ," which seems to allow for a fair amount of freedom of thought. That statem ent is followed by, "The choice to attend is subject to the student's willingness to function within the lifestyle standards established by the university."
I don't know if there's anyone at the university I could contact (possibly anonymously) in order to get answers to my questions. I don't want to raise any red flags with them, but at the same time I don't want to invest tens of thousands of dollars, let alone years of my life, if I may be expelled at any time.
