WWJR (Who Would Jesus Reject?)

I went to Catholic Mass this morning. I almost went to Wesley, but I was running late, and decided to go to St. Mary's, which is all of a two minute drive from my house.

The Old Testament reading was from Ezequiel about how prophets are rejected. The Gospel reading was about Jesus being rejected in his hometown of Nazareth.

Then the priest talked in his homily about how Jesus was rejected, but that he did not reject others. The priest noted that Jesus ate with tax collectors and pharisees alike, rejecting neither the rich nor the poor, the virtuous nor the sinner. He concluded the homily by saying that we are still guilty of rejecting others, and that until EVERYONE feels comfortable worshiping in a church, the church falls short of perfection. AMEN! If only the Catholic hierarchy would take that stance, and look at the ways in which it creates a hostile environment for some, even for many who grow up Catholic.
